When it comes to capturing beautiful moments between couples during a photography session, posing prompts play a crucial role in bringing out genuine emotions and creating stunning images. Here are my three favorite posing prompts that are sure to make your couple photography session unforgettable:
Forehead to Cheek
I love having one partner stand behind the other with their heads positions so that one forehead is resting on the other’s cheek. There are quite a few variations that you can get from this one pose. The rear partner can kiss their forehead, have one look down as the other looks at the camera, both close their eyes, etc.
Whisper something dirty/funny into their ear
Ask one partner to lean in and whisper a secret into the other’s ear. This intimate pose not only creates a sense of closeness and connection but also captures the genuine reactions and emotions between the couple. The whispered secret could be anything from a funny joke to a heartfelt message but I personally always recommend something spicy to get some good laughing images.
Movement prompts
Okay this is really two posing prompts but I like to use them hand in hand. I encourage the couple to run toward me holding hands. As they run they can add variety by looking in different directions (away, towards one another, at the camera). This almost always gets genuine smile and allows the couple to relax, have fun, and be themselves in front of the camera.
Once they get closer, I have one partner pick up the other and twirl (Be aware of any physical limitations as this does not work for every couple). This pose captures movement, resulting in candid and romantic shots that truly reflect the couple’s love for each other.
If you’re worried about booking a session because you or your partner feel awkward in front of the camera, rest assured I will be there to help prompt and pose you each step of the way. Ready for a session to celebrate your love? Let’s chat and plan a session unique to you and your love.
